Osteopath

I seek to address the underlying cause of dysfunction rather than just treating symptoms, which leads to lasting results.

Kris Esguerra

I was a veterinarian from the Philippines who made a career in the New Zealand dairy industry before a life-changing farm accident introduced me to osteopathy. Deeply inspired by its huge impact in my life, I went on to pursue a new career helping others regain their health. I was one of the very first graduates of Ara Institute of Canterbury’s Osteopathy Programme and had been fortunate to be mentored by some of the most skilled and experienced osteopaths in the region.

I treat people from all ages and walks of life and acknowledge that every person has their own different needs, priorities, and aspirations. My treatment approach is specifically tailored with these in mind whilst remaining true to the osteopathic tenets. The techniques I use also depend on the needs and preferences of my patients, which vary from gentle functional techniques to the more direct high velocity thrust techniques. My treatment is usually complemented with exercise prescription, postural, and lifestyle advice, which is specific to the individual.

As someone who needlessly suffered for a long time with back pain and headaches, I have a particular interest in helping people with chronic pain conditions and enjoy the challenge of finding and treating the root cause of their dysfunctions and not merely treating their symptoms. Some complex cases may benefit from interdisciplinary care, and should the need arise, I am able to identify and refer to other health professionals to complement osteopathic treatment.

When I’m not nurturing people, I’m often busy nurturing plants! I have a particular interest in propagating New Zealand’s native flora, especially our impressive endemic fern species.

I'm available at Wairakei Osteopathy on Thursdays. You can also book with me at our Halswell Rd Clinic on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
